My husband is battling CLL right now and is not responding well to standard chemo. Next week we start the process of a "mini"- bone marrow transplant. He's sleeping more and more and the glands keep coming back. Every day I wonder if he's not going to wake up one morning. I know that God is in control and I am trying hard to leave it in His hands but I'm really afraid.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-49382887610868717212008-12-11T12:14:00.000-07:002008-12-11T12:14:00.000-07:00CLL CUREDMichael, you are obviously a darn good wr...CLL CURED

Michael, you are obviously a darn good writer. However, I would caution you or anyone about romanticizing your condition unless you want to die from it.

I was diagnosed with CLL – Stage 4 in 1999. Today I am free of it and have been for at least five years. I opted not to fall for the drug and BMT schemes that Big Medicine tried to sell me. I was on Medicare and could have had a BMT for “free,” if I had wanted to go that route, but I decided that there had to be better alternatives.

I searched and after a lot of trial and error I finally found the answer. For me I feel it was two things. I think that a bad root canal caused my CLL. After I had that tooth removed, I used Coral Calcium to help clean up my blood.

I would suggest to anyone suffering from a chronic illness such as CLL to investigate Dr. George Meinig’s book, Root Canal Cover-Up - http://mizar5.com/coverup.htm. There is a lot of discussion on the web as well about the bad effects of root canals gone bad and cavitations of pulled teeth. If you want to read more about my own story, I posted a couple of articles on my blog: http://spiritbiz.wordpress.com/tag/chronic-lymphocytic-leukemia/ or http://spiritbiz.wordpress.com/2008/12/08/you-are-always-praying/

I am not selling anything, I just hope this simple information about my own cure helps more people heal their affliction.Titan23https://www.blogger.com/profile/04403095669769300743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-89063364325763699932007-10-19T22:39:00.000-07:002007-10-19T22:39:00.000-07:00My personal opinion is this is a study that really...My personal opinion is this is a study that really didn't need to be done. OBVIOUSLY cancer is a bummer! OBVIOUSLY it weighs heavy on every patient. OBVIOUSLY quality of life will be affected.

Given the fact that the amount of money devoted to cancer research is declining since September 11 and our fun time in Iraq, wouldn't this money be better spent finding a cure?

With a cure, the mental problems would...evaporate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-75858044745872147822007-10-17T20:42:00.000-07:002007-10-17T20:42:00.000-07:00David,Fabulous article. That may, or may not, respond to treatment. I get frustrated when someone refers to me as a survivor. To me, a survivor is someone who has beaten cancer, not someone who faces it each morning. I like the term fighter better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-35855646608153581762007-10-13T10:30:00.000-07:002007-10-13T10:30:00.000-07:00Hi David. Half your age.

It was an extremely rare condition over here as it usually occurs mostly to older people and non-chinese, namely westerners, and more possibility in men than women. I am very young, Chinese and a woman. Seems like someone up there decides to pull a fast one on me.

So I am living with this for 1 yr now, not knowing what is going to happen and my doc only tells me to watch and wait. I dunno what can I do to help it gets better, or what is ahead.

Thus I am really happy to have found your blog. Keep on writing. And thank you!Fayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01631116206919004443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-9688762813080058442007-10-11T13:21:00.000-07:002007-10-11T13:21:00.000-07:00Great piece, David. Just to show how frustratin this cancer can be, here is a direct quote via tape recorder from Dr. Keating this month during Tom's visit with him.

"We like to pretend that medicine is an exact science and that is hogwash. We work within ranges and often times we don't know what's important or what's happening to people."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-1454269827339463312007-10-10T13:05:00.000-07:002007-10-10T13:05:00.000-07:00"God has given us the gift of time to do all of th..."God has given us the gift of time to do all of those things."

I do agree with you -- It is a gift and I'd rather have the time than not. We can use it for a lot of the valuable things you mentioned.

It can nonetheless be a struggle. I know a stem cell transplant lies at the end of my CLL road. As much as it scares me sometimes, I also get a sense of relief when I think about it because there will be some resolution to this wearying fight.

So the time is a gift and a curse; more of a gift to be sure, but in the context of the Mayo study I tried to examine the reasons why patients are unhappy and, unfortunately, I had to focus on the negatives.

The positives still outweigh them, for sure.David Arensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13876562687586184006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-24898288960647071762007-10-09T22:36:00.000-07:002007-10-09T22:36:00.000-07:00Some thoughts: We are all going to die sometime. ...Some thoughts:

We are all going to die sometime. None of us escapes. We just have a vivid reminder of that fact. Since we are all born with a death sentence written by God, we all have a limited time and we all need to live the best life possible.

I would rather live with the uncertainty of CLL than be dead. It is indeed unnerving to get a bad cold or a sudden harsh cough and wonder, is this the end? One day, it will be. This again is a reminder of the fragility of life.

I hate reading about those who have lost the battle. Foremost, it is the loss of a fellow traveler, a fellow combatant. Secondly, it is a stark reminder of the cruelness of this disease.

Watch and wait is a blessing, really. Chemo for other diseases often is extremely unpleasant. We can postpone that, many times for years.

CLL gives us the chance to tidy up our affairs, finish that living trust, mend relationships, see a long-lost relative, and make peace with one's self and the world. Do the things that need doing. Go on that long-delayed trip. Tell your loved ones that they are indeed loved. Give them permission to go on with their lives, remarry, whatever.

Those of us on the front lines, storming the beaches, pinned down by enemy fire, are in a different place than the healthy unawares.

God has given us the gift of time to do all of those things.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19102494.post-55815869127408778072007-10-09T09:46:00.000-07:002007-10-09T09:46:00.000-07:00David,What an excllent piece of writing and exampl...David,
What an excllent piece of writing and examples are right on target.
Couldn't agree more with the "battle fatigue"!!
